Another storysack for school - this one for the Nativity! I used Butterick 6505 (OOP) as the basis for all the costumes.

I made Mary (not the one in the pictures though!), Joseph, 3 angels, 3 kings, 4 shepherds and 5 sheep. I also made 21 self-drafted choir costumes. I say self drafted, but they were so simple I didn't use a pattern. I measured dd(5) from wrist to wrist and used that as the width, then used the fabric width as the length (ie the selvedges were at the hems). I added some to the width measurement as I was running elastic around the neckline and this would obviously bring the sleeves up. I used a child's plate to draw a circle for the neck opening, right in the centre of each rectangle. The arms were created by cutting out a long, thin V shaped notch from the hem pointing towards the underarm. I was very glad I bought rippable fabric, it saved a lot of time on cutting out!!

I overlocked 1cm wide elastic to the wrong side of the neckline and topstitched it down. Stitched side seams, then did an overlocker narrow hem on the sleeves & hem edges. Didn't take long - but multiplied 21 times I ended up with a sore arm for a couple of days afterwards!

Made the 2 shepherds on the left, Joseph and a couple of the angels.

My angel costume is the one on the far right in this picture!!
