Emma brought home the nursery bear this weekend - the children take turns to bring her home. She comes with a diary and camera to record her adventures! When she arrived she was wearing a rather tatty old dress, so I decided Emma & I would do something about it!

I drafted the patterns myself - very simple 'T' shaped bodice (with the sleeves cut in one with the body). I measured Elizabeth first, but used a lot of ease so the children could dress her easily.

Here's a pic of her dress - T shaped bodice with a rectangular skirt, collar from sewbaby - cut down and fraychecked of course, they don't sell bear sized collars ;). I attached velcro to close the front, and false buttons. This is the same dress that the girls wear at school. Notice the lovely white overlocking on the cardigan - I was itching to change the thread colours but had to remind myself "It's only a bear - the children won't notice!". Done is better than perfect ;).

Her legs are under there somewhere ;)

Em & I then made a cardi for her - I screen grabbed the school logo from their website, reduced it to about 20% then digitised it - very simply, just picking out the main features. It does look very like the original - I'm pleased with how it turned out! The fabric is french terry I had left over from my tracksuit (which I *never* wear for the school run cos it looks like I'm wearing uniform!!!) I had no burgundy snaps to match so we used yellow. Em is over the moon with the outfit, and I earned a sticker from the teacher, which Em presented me with when she came home!! I'm now in trouble with my friend, because her dd is expecting her to make an outfit for Elizabeth when she comes home with her ;).
