Australia Day

Emma has been studying 'Our Amazing World' this term, and today was

Australia Day. Parents and carers were invited in to share a

traditional Australian lunch (hot dogs, vegemite sarnies, pavlova,

flapjacks and granny smith apples!), we were also treated to a fashion

show and they sung Waltzing Matilda. I didn't want to go down the

stereotypical cork hat route for Emma's costume, so, thanks to a

suggestion from an Australian sewist, she went as a lifesaver!

Purchased tshirt and shorts, the baseball cap we had already (standard

school one!) and I just embroidered the tshirt. The logo on the front

isn't very clear on the picture, it is the logo of the Surf lifesavers

of Australia, the text should've been around the badge but it was late

at night and done is better than perfect ;) . Ran out of red

embroidery thread half way through, so half the letters on the back

are gutermann - spot the odd ones out?!
